Health Stats show that Wales is not well - Randerson12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 13th Aug 2008 Reacting to the release of compiled Welsh Health Statistics, Welsh Lib Dem Spokesperson for Health, Jenny Randerson AM, has warned that "Wales is not well." Among the comprehensive compilation of health information from the Assembly Government were figures showing that the number of adults consuming more than the recommended amount of alcohol has gone up for the second year running and 56% of adults are classified as overweight or obese. Jenny Randerson said: "Despite all the money that has gone into health services, this information, when taken together for the first time shows that Wales is not well." "We really need to get a grip on preventative public health and education measures because with tougher spending limits in the coming years, the time for big cash investment rises is well and truly past. It is time for a re-evaluation about the direction we are going in and how to turn things around." Notes: Stats Wales new document: Health Statistics Wales 2008 is available from Ends/
